Rivals for Catan App Reviews

Have only tried to play 2 games and both times it freezes while trying to distribute resources to cards that are played it freezes and say "pay Austin" or what ever the card may be and will not let you do anything but restart the game. Makes me sad, please fix.

The tutorial makes no sense, I cant figure out how to play!!!

Great game (especially since I dont have the physical copy), but it should include the 2 expansions since I cant get them or the base game

Supper disappointed. Game crashes every single game I play and Im on 6+. If I could get my money back, I would.

So sad to see this game, which could be great, rendered worse than useless by terrible bugs. It eats save games routinely, freezes during paying resources, etc.

I love the card game and the gameplay is fun, but it CRASHES constantly!! After playing a card it locks up when you pay for it. Another helpful feature would be to be able to put it away and pick it up again later because my wife and I cant devote 45 minutes at a time to play. The crashes are the worst though. I basically threw $4 away.

I love Settlers off Catan and wanted to give this one a try. The learning curve is a bit steep and I had to look for tips online to better understand each scenario. But once I understood what I needed I figured it out. The games characters are actually not that difficult and I wanted to give the online game a chance but Game Center couldnt find me any matches. Not sure if nobody else is playing or if it is Game Center not working. But this is a great game and I just ordered the board game for my family as often there are just two of us at a time.

I love this game but it still has too many bugs. I.e. Locks up if I touch anything before resources are paid. When it crashes for no reason, the game is lost and cannot be resumed. If the bugs get fixed I will gladly give it five stars! Until then...

I want to like this game so much, but it just keeps pissing me off! It crashes CONSTANTLY and will not ever save games. Please fix so we can actually like this game!

I love this game. Its wonderfully challenging to figure out the best strategies for each mode. Very very fun for Catan and logic/strategy fans. Though... the app crashes about every third game for various reasons. Frustrating, but still a great game.

Love this game but it crashes frequenty esp in hot seat and Game Center mode!!!!!!!!!

I love this game, and the iOS version is great. Until you get "stuck." Multiple times Ive gone to play a card, I go to pay the resources, and it thinks I need more than what I really do. Whats worse, is I dont even have the resources it thinks I need, and you cant cancel. So youre just stuck. I tried leaving and coming back, but nothing. Then I kill the app, come back, and it tells me there was an error and it cant continue my game. When you put so much time into a game and its nearing the end, this is the worst. This usually happens during odd circumstances, like when youve lost a card due to a variety of circumstances. They just need to better think through the edge cases and it would be awesome. But its not worth starting a game when I fear it wont let me finish.

Every so often when I am trying to select resources to pay for drawing cards, or to receive them from an event, all my regions are "disabled" and I cannot select them to pay/receive the resource. It is impossible to continue the game at this point. Very sad as the game is fun, but unplayable. I wish I had my $5 back. :(

Would be a great game if it didnt crash every few minutes. Ive never even been able to make it through a full game. Not worth it AT ALL.

This game works very well. We have the actual card game and enjoy both.

This app was released before it was ready. In addition to the frequent bugs that so many others have already been pointing out, there are also a bunch of rough edges that make the app feel unfinished. The need to dismiss the tutorial before every game, the weird non-ending notification when you win or lose, the inability to read the requirements for cards like "university" until youve met the requirements (because the card remains unselectable until you have), the slowwwness of the animations and inability to adjust them, the notification bar that doesnt stay synced at all with the gameplay... The list goes on and on. The classic Catan app is excellent all around - but I think the team must have been rushing to meet a deadline with this one. Rivals for catan is a great card game. And this app captures the gameplay nicely. Its just not an acceptably finished app yet. Provided it gets some much needed updates this will be an easy 5-stars. But as is I cant recommend you download it.

The amount of bugs makes this almost unplayable. Plus due to the clunky interface, its hard to know what went wrong. Please update.

Great game and the first time Ive played this Catan edition... Tutorial wasnt the greatest and took a while for me to catch all the nuances from the regular Catan to this, but once I did I really enjoyed it. There are multiple bugs, the game has frozen and crashed on me a few times, and errors have ended my games before theyre complete. Thats been super frustrating.

Im writing a review hoping USM reads them and addresses these issues. If they do, Ill update the stars and review. My wife and I love to play the tabletop Rivals for Catan game and downloaded the app for those times when we just dont feel like setting up the full tabletop version. It doesnt disappoint! The gameplay is easy to figure out and mirrors the mechanics of the actual game nicely. While the bugs are definitely less that USMs Catan game, there are a few major ones... The dice rolls seem to favor the blue player. Hard to prove but if you are red, your resource numbers do not seem to get the balanced randomness that the blue player gets. When you build an expansion and the game is charging you resources, do not try and build another resource until the charging is complete. Building before its done will result in the game locking up. Not such a big deal when playing against the AI, you can force quit and resume. But when you are playing against a real person, you do not get the ability to rejoin. See next issue. In multiplayer mode, there is no option to rejoin a game in progress. This means you cannot exit the game at all. Dont set it aside and hope to resume tomorrow. With a major bug like the above, it can be very frustrating to lose any progress you may have and have to start over. After a couple of these events it actually becomes less time consuming to set up the tabletop version and play that. At the start of the game, it doesnt properly recognize Player 1s name. You get some weird name...
