Rivals for Catan App Reviews

Seems to have stopped crashing. Fingers crossed.

My earlier bad review was a bit harsh do to my high expectations and following disappointment. I take it back. Seems to be working better now.

I so very wish I could love this game...

But SO MANY CRASHES. Bugs. Gameplay generally good, but crashes, lost game save points, random hangs just ruin the game.

Awesome game!

This game is awesome! Its identical to the real game although I wish you could do more by yourself. Ex. Turn your resource cards yourself. Just make it less computerized. Also please please please add the sea rivals for catan!

Great, but must be played in one sitting

Wonderful, addicting game. But saved games are very unstable so it must be won (or lost!) in one setting. Please fix!

Like this game but

Add russian please and some times game just stopped and i cant do anything only quit this game

Bug

The game crashes whenever trying to buy a knight or building at a discount price, please fix it.

Great, but Buggy

The game crashes whenever you select a card before paying for a new build or played card

Very bad

This game is very bad, always crashes and it does not save the matches. I want my money back.

Bugs

Only finished one game so far because of big that forces me to quit and then it doesnt let me reload

plays well, good AI

they fixed some minor bugs and now it works really well. the only thing Id add would be better game help menus

Wont even start.

Paid for the app and it wont even start. Crashes immediately and constantly, what a waste of my money.

Multiplayer bugs

The game itself is great, but multiplayer has issues on my ipad air. No way to save an online game, which is a major problem for a game that can take over an hour to play. If your connection is lost or you get bumped out of the game for some reason, then your online multiplayer game is over.

Fun bit glitchy.

Just today mid game twice it froze, once when I was supposed to spend resources and again when picking new cards

Give us the expansions!

I love the game and want more.

Could use refinement

Important gameplay reference information, such as road/settlement/city building cost, is unavailable in certain states of the game when choices must be made, forcing some unfortunate, uninformed decision making.

Constantly Drops Games

Would love the game if not for the drops. Constantly drops single player games halfway through and will not then recognize my saved game. The basic game will run through but the age of gold will never run all the way through.

Good time filler

Keeps some of the Catan items, yet allows single play.

Fantastic adaptation of the card game

I love the real card game so I had high hopes for the iPad version, letting my girlfriend and I feed our addiction on train rides and other travel situations, as well as playing with friends from afar. Overall I am very satisfied. The game is completely faithful to the card game in every detail, including all card instructions and artwork. It makes playing this version extremely easy for an experienced card player. We even noticed some minor errors we had taken habit to when playing the card game itself. The iPad version actually improved our gameplay for the card game! The biggest wish I have would be to have more than the first three expansions. However I know how much work it must be to incorporate new elements (such as the ships or owls) so to the developers of this game: I would gladly pay in-app purchases to receive the other expansions! A very minor issue I seem to have is that I cant complete an invite to play online unless the other person responds in real time. But the pass-n-play works excellent!

A pretty good game that could be better

I’ve enjoyed the card game previously so was curious to see how this would port over. It’s pretty good, with a few minor bugs and some features that need to be added. I agree 100% with the majority of the reviews here. 1. An “UNDO” option would be nice. I’ve hit the wrong button accidentally a few times. Do this at the wrong time (for example, if you have a ton of resources and hit the “my turns up” button rather than the “trade” button; or if you’re about to build a critical building or the winning point) and you can lose the game. 2. When I play the Scout, sometimes I forget which territories I have next to the road; there’s no way to reference your playing board to verify I’m selecting the correct land types. 3. The instructions should include Full Instructions rather than simply descriptions of the cards. It’s not clear, unless you’ve played the card game prior, what is going on at times and the only reference to the play sequence is in the brief tutorial. 4. The Kinds of Crashes I’ve Experienced: a. I’ve had everything needed to select one of the special cards such as the university - an open space by a city, the appropriate resources - and it won’d let me select the card. I’ve even amassed huge numbers of resources, built extra cities, etc. and it still won’t let me select the building. Always when this happens, a crash is the next event. b. My playing field becomes locked as though I were my opponent trying to play on the “wrong” side. Sometimes, I can quit the game and come back and it works; but not always. c. Abruptly, the game has closed and gone to my home screen from which I can re-open the game or I get the: d. Apologetic, sorry you can’t re-open that game error.

Great adaptation of the game, but needs to be fixed!

The game plays great, and captures the feel of the card game. Some of the motions are a little redundant, like I wish when you build something, you didnt have to manually pay the resources, it knows you have the resources to pay it, and the resources should be subtracted automatically. My biggest complaint, is it is very buggy. It constantly drops games, and will not save games in progress. This needs to fixed!
